Amish Onion Patties

Serves 4 Time: 20 minutes Difficulty: Easy


  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal
  • 2 ½ cups yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 10-15 dashes hot sauce


  1. Heat Blackstone griddle to medium-low heat.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, diced onions, and corn meal in a large mixing bowl. Whisk until completely incorporated.
  3. Mix in milk and hot sauce. Stir for 2 minutes until a thick batter is created.
  4. Drizzle oil onto the griddle. Drop ¼ cup spoonful's of the batter directly onto the griddle.
  5. Cook until both sides are golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.

Serve with ketchup, spicy ketchup, buttermilk ranch or your favorite dipping sauce.
