Preheat your griddle or skillet to high heat and lightly oil the surface. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Stir in the diced onions and cook for a few more minutes. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the beef, add water, and stir until everything is combined. Let it cook for about 3-4 more minutes until the flavors blend and the beef is fully cooked.
While the beef is cooking, place the canned cheese sauce in a small pot on the griddle or stovetop to warm it up.
Once the beef is ready, lightly oil the griddle or skillet again and place the tostada shells down. Let them cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they get slightly crispy, then remove them from the heat.
To assemble, spread a layer of warm cheese sauce on each tostada, add a scoop of seasoned beef, and top with shredded cheese. Add lettuce, diced tomatoes, and green onions. Finish with sour cream and hot sauce if you like.
Serve immediately and enjoy while they’re fresh and crispy.
