These Animal Style Smash Burgers are packed with flavor! Juicy, thinly smashed beef patties topped with melty American cheese, caramelized onions, and fry sauce, all served on toasted buns with fresh lettuce and tomato, make for a delicious, indulgent meal.

Preheat Blackstone griddle to medium-low heat. Drizzle vegetable oil then add the diced onions. Cook for 15-20 minutes until deeply caramelized and jammy. Remove the onions from the griddle and set aside.
Increase the griddle heat to medium-high heat. Place the 8 ground beef portions directly onto the griddle. Top each one with a piece of parchment paper and then smash until very thin. Remove the parchment paper and then season the burgers with salt and pepper.
Place the buns directly on the griddle and toast for 2 minutes. Cook the burgers for 3 minutes, flip, then top with American cheese.
Remove the buns from the griddle. Spread the fry sauce onto each side of the buns. Pull the burgers from the griddle once the cheese is melted and set them on the buns. Top the burgers with caramelized onions, sliced tomatoes, and lettuce. Serve immediately.
