Garlic Shrimp with Ponzu Rice

Serves 4 Time: 45 minutes Difficulty: Easy


  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 ounces shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons flat leaf parsley, chopped
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ponzu sauce


  1. Turn griddle to medium heat and add the olive oil and butter. Add the garlic and sauté until aromatic. Add the shrimp, making sure to coat with the oil-garlic mix.
  2. Add the salt and lemon juice, stirring continuously with 2 spatulas.
  3. Top the shrimp with the cayenne pepper and parsley.
  4. Move the shrimp to the side and add the rice to the griddle.
  5. Add the sesame oil, soy sauce, and ponzu to the rice. Toss the rice to coat in the sauce. Add chopped parsley and toss some more.
  6. Plate the rice first, then top with the shrimp. Sprinkle more chopped parsley on top and serve immediately.
