Lemon Garlic Broccoli Rabe

  • ½ stick unsalted butter
  • 6-8 cloves fresh garlic, smashed
  • 4-5 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1 whole lemon
  • (optional) pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 2 lbs. Broccoli Rabe or Broccolini, cleaned and trimmed
  • Pinot grigio (or any white wine you like)
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds
  • Salt & Pepper


  1. Heat your Blackstone to medium-high heat. Using a small sauce pot, add the butter, garlic, thyme and 1/3 of the lemon. (The lemon peel will add a ton of flavor) Cook for 4-5 minutes before moving onto the next step.
  2. Add a bit of olive oil to the other side of the griddle and then the broccoli rabe. Add a pinch of salt and pepper and toss to evenly coat. Cover with a dome and cook for 3 minutes. Add a few tablespoons of white wine, toss and cover. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add a few tablespoons of the flavored butter over the broccoli rabe and toss to evenly coat.
  4. Just before the broccoli rabe is finished, add the juice of the remaining lemon, the sliced almonds and toss to evenly incorporate.
  5. To plate, add all of the broccoli rabe to a serving bowl and garnish with the remaining butter, garlic and toasted herbs. Serve hot.
