- 1.5 lb ground beef
- 1 lb sweet Italian sausage, ground
- 1 loaf white bread or 7 large slices of sourdough or Tuscan bread, cubed
- 4-5 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 eggs
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- Fresh sage leaves, chopped
- 1 cup turkey broth
- Salt, pepper, dried sage, and poultry seasoning to taste
On medium-low heat, crumble ground beef and sausage on one half of your Griddle. Simultaneously, sauté onions and celery in 2 sticks of butter on the other half.
Season both the meat and veggies to taste with salt, pepper, dried sage, and poultry seasoning. Toss everything together, cooking for a couple of minutes.
Add fresh sage and ½ cup of turkey broth, along with the cubed bread. Mix to combine all ingredients. Remove from heat and allow the stuffing to cool.
Once cooled, season again to taste with salt, pepper, sage, and poultry seasoning. Whisk together two eggs and add to the stuffing, along with ½ cup of broth and some extra freshly chopped sage. Mix well.
Grease a baking dish with butter, add the stuffing mix, and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes. Halfway through, drizzle with a bit of broth and/or melted butter.
The stuffing can be prepped the night before baking.
